I knew Elliot. His wife and I were roommates at Iowa and I was also in their wedding. I have lost touch with them after Cynthia's death and would love to forward some pictures to Erin. I always enjoyed Elliot and the conversations we had over his fascinating and exotic cooked meals. He will be missed.
smhittman@aol.comsandy stavros hittmannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3576804529126714608.post-79505245780678272882009-05-08T16:17:00.000-04:002009-05-08T16:17:00.000-04:00You were very fortunate to know Elliott. And I was...You were very fortunate to know Elliott. And I was fortunte to know him through you. I recall how genuinely delighted he was to see you the first time that we went out to visit him in 1998. I remember the lovely dinner in Santa Monica, walking back along the Pacific, the quiet dark enormity of the ocean and listening to you and Elliott talk, the row of cowboy boots lined up along the corridor of his apt... You always called Elliott the "Marlboro Man" - strong, handsome and rugged. I think he loved talking to you about books, writing and ideas. You reminded him of the time in his life when he devoted himself to writing and thought. You blessed each other with friendship that lasted over forty years. Elliott will be greatly missed.Annahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07583196824269101152noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3576804529126714608.post-68242163422631995002009-05-08T14:54:00.000-04:002009-05-08T14:54:00.000-04:00We don't know each other but we both knew Elliott....We don't know each other but we both knew Elliott. Tears ran from eyes when I got the news of my friend, Elliott Anderson passing away. I only heard about it today, as I did not know him as personally as you, I was his insurance guy. Your piece brought a smile to my face and I want to thank you for that. As I came to know Elliott, I love him as both the man and the human being: a wise uncle or a very loyal friend of few words.

I don't have more to say other than thank you so much. He was amazing and keenly aware. I will miss him as, I am sure, many others will to. Have a great afternoon, and again, thank you so very much!.

Yours Truly,

John ShaferAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
